Process Flow

The full name of LSAW steel pipe is Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded. The core of this manufacturing process is the use of longitudinal welding technology, by heating the pre-treated steel plate, increasing the pressure to form a tubular structure, and then welding. The pipes manufactured by this process are mainly used for pipeline transportation of oil, natural gas and other fluids.

LSAW Steel Pipe Production

In the manufacturing process of steel pipe, LSAW and UOE/JCOE processes are three very important pipeline production processes.

Among them, LSAW steel pipes usually use high-strength low-alloy high-strength steel. The selection, thickness and composition of these steel plates have a direct impact on the properties and quality of the pipes.

Common steel plate specifications range from 5mm to 50mm thickness, width range from 500mm to 2500mm.

LSAW Pipe Process

The manufacturing process of LSAW Steel Pipe is a complex and delicate process.
Raw materials preparation: Select low-alloy high-strength steel or high-strength low-alloy steel, and carry out surface defect inspection, chemical composition analysis and mechanical properties test of the steel plate.
Forming process: The steel plate is preheated to eliminate internal stress and improve plasticity. It is then fed into the winding machine for forming and winding.
Welding process: Remove the oxide layer and impurities on the edge of the pipeline, longitudinal welding and inspection by submerged arc welding (SAW) technology.
Heat treatment and cooling: mechanical properties are improved by annealing and normalizing processes. Control cooling speed and ambient temperature for cooling.
Post treatment and inspection: Rust removal and cleaning. Surface treatment such as epoxy coating or polyethylene coating can be applied if necessary.
Dimensional inspection and pressure testing: to further ensure that the steel pipe meets the design specifications and the performance requirements under actual conditions of use.
